PE

Welcome to PE at St John Henry Newman School

At St John Henry Newman School we offer a high-quality physical education curriculum in both Key Stage 3 and 4, which we hope will inspire all pupils to take part in regular physical activity and have opportunities to excel in competitive sport. We would like all pupils to become physically confident in a way which supports their health and fitness; whilst benefiting from personal, social and emotional development. The broad and balanced curriculum provides pupils the opportunity to determine their interests and talents and we hope this will lead them to remaining physically active into adulthood and throughout their life.

At Key Stage 4 many pupils opt to study GCSE PE. They will be supported in their study of the Edexcel GCSE PE course by a team of staff with excellent subject knowledge, varied teaching and learning styles and a passion for the subject. With high expectations of the pupils the department has achieved excellent results.

For Key Stage 5 some pupils will continue their academic study of sport by following the A-level PE course (OCR). For more information about each of the courses please continue to read below; while you can also click on the links to be taken to the exam board websites for further curriculum information.

If you have any queries regarding PE or school sport, please do not hesitate to get in touch with me.
