We had a fantastic time at Energi Trampoline Park celebrating the success of our key stage 3 students who have been awarded with a student of the month badge.

The students from 7CMS and 7AJR have had an excellent day in the sunshine at Castlerigg Manor today undertaking a range of activities including team-building exercises, group work and individual reflection.

Congratulations to the LRC committee for being runners up in the Flying High with reading World Book Day competition. To celebrate the team collected their well earned easter eggs and certificates.

On Monday 26 March staff entered their tray bakes to raise money for Carlisle Eden Mind and the School Chapel Fund.  Congratulations to Miss Lowrey on her winning tray bake!  It was delicious! 

​A fantastic set of matches were played by the year 7's on Monday at Caldew in the City Schools tournament.  Well done to all those involved.

Maddie Wildridge, Alex Cairns, Molly Hagan & Lauren Wightman represented Newman School in the United Kingdom Mathematics Trust team challenge which was held at Caldew School on 22 March 2018 and they came an impressive 4th place out of 10 teams.

The Newman Life Club held a bake sale to raise money for Mary's Meals and raised £44.28..  

The Year 13 Sociology students have been attending an AQA A-Level Sociology Grade Booster Workshop today in Salford.   

Congratulations to the year 9 boys who represented Newman at the County Rugby 10's Festival at QEGS . They competed in 3 tough games; drawing against Cockermouth, and losing to Netherhall & Workington Academy. Tries were scored by Jakub Pakula (x3) and Brooke Dixon (x1). Well done to the students from key stage 3 who took part in the Level 3 Bikeability cycle training in school. 

​On Monday 12 March 2018, Mike Garry, award winning poet and motivational speaker spent the day here at Newman delivering sessions to the students throughout the day.

Rehearsals continue on Wednesday lunchtimes with Mrs Tickell in the music room G4 - all students' welcome.

The Year 7 & 9 boys football fixtures against Caldew on Wednesday 28 Feb have been postponed due to the uncertainty over the weather and will be rearranged for a later date.  Thank you - Mr Cameron, PE Dept.

Thursday 1st March is World Book Day.  Book tokens will be available from Mrs Jones in the LRC and Mrs Tickell will be doing assemblies all week. 

This week during assemblies the students have been learning about the charity Mary's Meals and have been set a challenge to find ways to fundraise for this worthwhile cause as a form group or year group.

We are delighted to announce that Courtney White, Year 13 has gained a scholarship to study at New York University (Tisch School of the Arts) to study film and television.
