Year 7/8 Sports Day in on Thursday 11 July and Year 9/10 is on Monday 8 July 2019.

Students from all year groups are packed up and off on the school's annual retreat to Castlerigg Manor this week.

​As part of a new curriculum competition, Mrs Graham in the English Department asked her English classes to write an Oath entry for the Cumbria School Games competition and we are delighted to announce that Evie Davidson, Year 8 has been announced as a winner. In our last school week we are learning about goodness and patience, two fruits of the Holy Spirit, through the fun example of Batman. We will see that both of these fruits should inform the way that we act, and the importance of being patient with those around us and to do good acts for them.

Congratulations to the KS3 students who have won the first round of the English department Spelling Bee 2019. In the next round the students will have a 'spell off' with the other winners from their year group. If they are successful, they will go through to the final round.

​We would like to wish all of the students the best of luck as they starts their exams on Monday 13 May 2019.  Please arrive to the exams on time and with the correct equipment.

​Congratulations to the U15 girls who played at Brunton Park this afternoon and beat Trinity School in the final on penalties.  Fantastic achievement!

The Year 12's are visiting the UCAS Fair where they will have the opportunity to join UCAS experts, university and college representatives and industry professionals at this unique event.  There will be inspirational talks, seminars and a chance to chat through the application process.

Next year we will be offering Year 8 and 9 students the opportunity to attend a retreat at Castlerigg Manor from Monday 29 June to Friday 3 July 2020. There will also be places available for young leaders from Years 10,11 and sixth form.  A copy of the letter can be found on the letters page.  Thank you.    

On Monday 15 April and Tuesday 16 April Year 7's will be spending the day at Castlerigg retreat.   The retreat includes a range of activities including team-building exercises, group work and individual reflection. The retreat also offers students the chance to develop friendships and their own sense of identity.

On Thursday 28 March 2019 we welcomed Year 5's from Stoneraise Primary School and St Bede's RC Primary School to take part in a carousel of workshops including Spanish, Catering and English.

Year 7 Parent's Evening is on Tuesday 11 June 2019 from 4.30 pm - 7.00 pm.  Parking is available in the school yard from 4.15 pm onwards. 

As we end our first year of The Way (and as Pentecost is this weekend) are going to be taking a look the Holy Spirit in a fun way. In our culture there are a lot of examples of how we should live as Christians. Some of them are good examples, and some of them are examples of what not to do. By looking at our favourite comic book superheroes we will...

On Thursday 28th February 2019 a group of Year 7 students will have the opportunity to take part in a range of fun, interactive and educational sessions assisted by current University students.  The focus will be on increasing awareness of Higher Education, raising their aspirations and improve their teamwork skills.

Newman Catholic School have been invited to send a group of student delegates to the annual Commonwealth Service in Westminster Abbey, London, on Monday 11 March 2019.
